My Hero

Tennyson hasn’t always been my hero, but recently I’ve really noticed that she’s probably been the one that I’ve been closest to and that I idolize more. Now that we’re the only ones that live at home I’m always turning to her when I need help with school or when we’re having family problems (which aren’t a lot). I can always tell her stuff that I don’t want my mom to know and she’ll keep it. I trust her a lot.
She sets such a good example for me. I want to be more like her, because she’s confident and not shy and doesn’t care what people think about her. She’s plays basketball, runs track and swims and is just fun to be around and just makes me laugh. It’s always how I wanted to be when I was little and thought of myself when I was grown up.
I’d like to spend a day in her shoes just to see how it would be to have everyone like you and be such a likeable person. She probably compliments everyone she sees and makes at least five people a day feel better about themselves.
She drives me to friend’s house and she takes them home when they need a ride so it’s not just me she helps, it’s everyone close to her. She always goes to the store to get groceries for my mom and runs errands for my dad. She really goes out of her way in more than one way.
Tennyson stands up for people when they need it, and gives that extra support that they need. The examples she sets are like when she volunteered to do something for my mom so that my mom didn’t have to do it or helping a friend with their projects. She’s on Seminary Council and that’s a big example because that’s something that I believe is really great and they help so many people. She’s big with the church and I’m glad that she was there for me when I went for my first year of girl’s camp. You could really see that everyone liked her and had so much respect for her.
One time I got in trouble for something that I didn’t do and Tenny knew that I didn’t do it and she spoke up and told them what really happened. I hope that she’ll always be there for me even when she moves out of the house. I have to admit that I’ll miss her a lot when she goes to college and won’t live with me anymore. I won’t be able to get homework help or go to some of the high school activities with her. She won’t rely on me so much and tell me what’s going on in her life and that’s something that I want her to do more often because I like to feel that she can rely on me and trust me. We might not get along most of the time, but some of my best memories are with her and her funny stories.
You know how some people have those understanding looks and just start laughing for no reason at all, just because they have that secret knowing. Well we have a few of those sometimes. It isn’t like a relationship that I have with my friends but it’s that sisterly love that the sisters who are closest in age have. I’m glad that she’s three years away from me because I wouldn’t want to go to school with her but I love going to other things like church, YW, Salt Lake, etc. with her. She makes things fun when they really aren’t. Since we grew up together the things that we’ve gone through are so alike, that it just brings us closer. We might not like the same things, but I like it when people say that I’m like Tenny in some ways.
One time she was going to a thing at the high school and I didn’t want to stay home with my parents but had nothing to do, I knew she didn’t want to take her little sister, because that would just be embarrassing especially because I’m completely shy when I first meet someone. She invited me anyways and I had a good time being with her.
I’m still glad she’s my sister. She’s my hero and there are lots of reasons that she could be anyone’s hero, but especially mine.

The Desert Beast

When Hercules went to see Eurystheus, he told him he had another task for Hercules. This task was hard even for the glorious Hercules. The task that he asked him to perform was to live in a land where there was nothing but sand and creatures that lived in the sand. The creatures were ravenous, bloodthirsty beasts. They fed on the poor unfortunates that wandered into the desert. They didn’t need water to live only the blood of humans. No person had even dared going to the desert knowing what was living underneath the sand. Eurystheus told Hercules to go and kill one of the beasts and bring three of the teeth from the mouth of the beast. They say the teeth of the beast are one million times sharper than the sharpest sword. The beasts have five rows of teeth, each row having 3,376 teeth. On Hercules way to the desert he found a large wooden staff sticking out of the ground. One end of the staff had a sharp point. So Hercules picked it up and kept going. The moment he walked 100 feet into the desert a beast had come out of the ground in search of the human. Hercules saw the beast coming and grabbed the staff and ran toward the open mouth of the beast and was hoping he would get close enough that it would stab into him or injure. He stuck it into the open mouth of the beast, choking it to death. Next Hercules had to use his metal sword to get three of the teeth out. He took them to Eurytheus. That was Hercules last labor.

Kissa's Find

In the mountains of Silta there was a small family of mountain lions. The mother had just given birth to two small cubs. First a boy and then a girl. She named the eldest Vahva and the younger Kissa. Vahva was strong and courageous and loved to go out hunting with his mother but Kissa was small and didn’t grow much and had stayed the same size she was when she was only five months old. She loved to sleep most of the day and liked to hunt for only small prey and was disgusted in the way her mother and brother could eat an elk and deer.

Kissa loved to explore and one time while her brother and mother left to hunt she had walked farther than usually and had come upon a small village with children playing in the street. Kissa sat and watched. Kissa had never seen anything like it before but had her mother warning never to get too close to the village, because there were evil things that would hurt you if they thought you were too close to them. Kissa didn’t think anything evil of them at all though.

She was so lost in thought that she didn’t notice the girl that had come up from behind her. The little girl could have been no more than five or six years old. They just stood and stared for a while and then all of a sudden the girl was grinning and reaches down and was running her hand across Kissa’s back. Kissa became very happy that this girl was not going to hurt her. The little girl stood up and ran back to her house and came back not too long after with an older woman and a bowl of something that looked white like the snow at the top of the mountains near Kissa’s home. The little girl placed the bowl in front of Kissa. The woman and the little girl just watched. Kissa being very curious sniffed at the white stuff and it smelled very good. She stuck her tongue out and dipped it into the white stuff and discovered that it was creamy and delicious. Soon the bowl was empty and the woman bent down and picked it up. They spoke in a way Kissa didn’t understand. The woman reached down and picked Kissa up very gently and cradled Kissa in her arms and then started walking back to the village with the little girl. They walked into a house and placed Kissa down on a soft, warm, and very squishy surface. Kissa liked it very much and eventually fell asleep. When she woke up the little girl was lying next to her with her hand lying on Kissa’s stomach. Kissa loved the little girl and her mother. They started calling her Cat. Kissa didn’t know why but she didn’t mind and liked the name. She never saw her mother and brother again but she was happy and she was sure they were too and so she never left the small village.

When Cats Attack

When I was younger I was sitting on a loud massage chair and my cat was lying on my parent’s bed in front of me. I then got a brilliant idea and thought that my cat would like to enjoy the massage chair just like I had been. So I grabbed my cat and walked over to the chair and tried to put her down. She was holding on to my shirt and I don’t know why I didn’t clue in that she was scared of the chair and didn’t want to sit down. I tried harder and I pulled her off my shirt and pretty much threw her down on to the chair and she was so fast getting off the chair it was as if she bounced off. She climbed back up on my hand in the process giving me three bad scratches on my hand. She ran across the bed and out the door while I stood there stunned and confused at what had just happened. My hand was bleeding in three places. It wasn't pouring blood, but was coming out of the scratches in drops every time I wiped them with a piece of toilet paper that I had grabbed out of my parent’s bathroom. After I wiped down the scratches I placed three band aids on my hand. Now for me band aids don't last long so they were off within three hours. My scratches had scabbed over and I was a little obsessed with picking the biggest and deepest one, which just made it bleed and heal slower. The two other scratches healed faster and didn't scar, but because I had picked and picked on the other one it scarred. Now that I’m older it has slightly faded and it doesn't stand out as much. I still have the cat that scratched me. Her name is Lucy and she just lounges around the house and tries to eat my food. She's still terrified of any loud massage chairs though.
